The book Just Mercy (Adapted for Young Adults): A True Story of the Fight for Justice by Bryan Stevenson is Methacton High School’s One Book One School summer reading selection for 2021. All Methacton High School students in grades 9-12 for the 2021-22 school year are expected to read this title, and family and community members are encouraged to read it as well.

Just Mercy is a powerful true story about the author’s quest to defend the most vulnerable people in American society — the poor, the wrongly convicted, and those whose lives have been marked by discrimination and marginalization. Just Mercy tells the story of the Equal Justice Initiative, Stevenson’s nonprofit law firm, from its early days facing the nation’s highest death sentencing and execution rates, through a successful campaign to challenge the cruel practice of sentencing children to die in prison, to revolutionary projects designed to confront Americans with our history of racial injustice.
